the FT section silkroadredux brought an interesting article some weeks ago about Chinese emigrants returning home from France or Italy and bringing back with them European coffee house taste. this phenomenon can be witnessed almost all over China.
autumn is without doubt the best season to go to Moganshan. Having lived many years in Vienna, Moganshan is my Shanghai "Semmering", the closest mountain escape from the city. In summer far too hot and humid like all of East China, autumn feels a bit like spring, because apart from the bamboo harvest flowers bloom everywhere. and how kicked back is life in those small villages if compared to shanghai, ahh, truly a welcome change. nevertheless, this year's autumn MGS triathlon was cancelled because there is too much construction work in the area. roads being enlarged, sewage systems put in place, bridges being newly built, houses in particular hotels being freshly painted. even these remote areas receive a good load of economic boost. since three years we come to the same B&B. this year we were served first class cappuccino and get a good bottle of Spanish tinto. who would have thought that was possible 5 years ago?
